3. How and why we use your information
Accounts, business listings and events
We use your information to create and manage your account, review submissions, publish approved listings, enable updates and communicate with you about your account or submissions.
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a useful, accurate and secure Chamber website and supporting local businesses and community events. We consider the effect on your privacy and limit our use to what is necessary for these purposes.
You must provide the information marked as required to create an account or submit a listing. Fields marked as optional can be left blank.
Newsletter and promotional communications
With your consent, we use your first name, last name and email address to send the Chamber Newsletter. This may include Chamber news, local business updates, shopping promotions, events and opportunities to get involved.
Our lawful basis is consent. We ask you to confirm your subscription by email before adding you to our confirmed subscriber list.
Newsletter subscription is optional. You can create a business or event account without subscribing, and declining or withdrawing newsletter consent does not affect your account.
You can withdraw your consent or object to newsletter marketing at any time, using the unsubscribe facility in our emails or by contacting us.
Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew consent.
Enquiries and website security
We use information you send us to respond to enquiries and resolve problems. We also use necessary technical information to prevent misuse, investigate security incidents and maintain the website.
Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us and providing a reliable, secure service.
Where we must retain or disclose information to meet a legal requirement, our lawful basis is compliance with that legal obligation.
4. Information published on the website
Approved business and event listings are publicly accessible.
Information you submit for publication—including contact details, descriptions, locations and photographs—may be viewed, copied or indexed by visitors and search engines.
Your private account information and newsletter subscription records are not published as part of your listing. An email address or telephone number entered in a public listing may, however, appear publicly.
Only submit information and photographs that you are authorised to publish. Avoid including private information about another person without their knowledge and an appropriate basis for doing so.
If we remove information from our website, copies may remain temporarily in search engine results or in services outside our control.
